President Joe Gormley FOREMEN and some technical workers at the Coventry Parkside Rolls-Royce plant are to stage a one-day token strike next Monday in protest against the company's refusal to continue wage negotiations until the three-way national wage talks—aimed at establishing state control of wages-have reached a conclusion.

The strike will involve about 250 foremen and 50 service engineers. Their protest has received support from the 1,000 indirect workers at the plant who have given 14 days strike notice.

IN A major bid for middle-class support for the Tories' state pay plan, Chancellor Anthony Barber launched a vitriolic attack on what he calls 'the wreckers'. See page 11.
